What it is
Vasant Panchami falls on Magha Shukla Panchami. It welcomes the first breath of spring and is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, associated with knowledge, music and the arts.
Traditional significance
Yellow, the colour of mustard flowers, is worn and offered. Many families begin a child’s learning, place books and instruments before Saraswati, or start a new study.
History and culture
In Bengal and eastern India it is celebrated as Saraswati Puja in homes and schools; in Punjab it is linked with kite flying in the spring sun.

- Close by writing one sentence about how it felt to begin.
